The launch of Bolt, an East London motorcycle dealer with a difference, attracted approaching 400 people and over 100 bikes and scooters.
"The night was a great success" said owner Andrew Almond. "Bolt came about from a love of motorcycles engines, hanging out with friends , and that unmistakable feeling when you gun the throttle out of your comfort zone. `It is this irrational impulse that binds everyone from the creative team, the brands stocked to the person who roasts our coffee".
Driven by "design, craftsmanship and timeless quality" , Bolt stocks bespoke motorcycles, art and apparel. Bolt is said to be the first London showroom to display and sell custom motorcycles from a range of professional garages across the UK. The motorcycles are hand-crafted, one-off machines incurring hundreds of hours of labour to get a distinctive custom style.
Almond added "Apparel stocked is exclusive, british and hand made, and ensures durability and classic styling for years to come. Brands originate from young designers heavily involved in the east london motorcycle and scooter cultures. These include Black Skulls, Scott fraser Collection, Sidewinder Apparel, David Preston shoes and Kingdom of Kicks.
Our obsessions are allowed to overflow with a collection of vintage helmets, collectible leathers, rare books and original prints. Working with a talented team of creatives from the likes of Acne, Liberties and A4 labs, the `Bolt house brand consists of of a collection of premium clothing , screen prints and hand-painted items."
Monthly exhibitions will host artists from varied disciplines producing focused bodies of work within the context of motorcycle culture. Forthcoming exhibitions include lewis Whatton, Lucky Left Hand and Coleen Self.
Bol;t customers can sit in a converted milk float and enjoy a cup of coffee served from a 1969 Vespa Ape. Almond concludes " Bolt creates a space on the edge of London Fields Park on Richmond Road, Hackney, London E8, where you can ride up and hang out".
