KK Outlet July Exhibition - Commute Nice London

There’s a lot of hate on the roads these days. Cyclists hate lorries. Cars hate cyclists. Motorbikes hate scooters.

Scooters hate cyclists. Everyone hates taxis (until we need one). The statistics reflect this aggression, 23,000 accidents and 80 deaths in London in the last 5 years, so far 8 people have died in bike accidents this year alone.

Commute Nice London, KK Outlet’s summer show – when most of us take to our bikes, and pop the windows or roof on our cars, if we have one – is inspired by our desire to turn hate-filled roads into happy roads. A mutual respect for all road users in every vehicle, even if that vehicle is your own two legs.

Featuring a stellar line up of ace illustrators, artists and designers, this exhibition tackles the problem with positive and beautifully design-led messages.

Contributors include Alex May Hughes / Annu Kilpeläinen / Anthony Burrill / Biff / Bolt / Chrissie Abbott / Craig and Karl / Crispin Finn / Dorothy / Fred Butler / Hattie Stewart / Jordy van den Nieuwendijk / Laura Callaghan / Luke Miller / Martin Nicolausson / Matt H Booth / Ornamental Conifer / Pam et Jenny / Pat Bradbury / Pâté / Peter Judson / Sam Dunn / Saskia Pomeroy / Satta / Steven Wilson / Supermundane / Suzi Kemp / Ute Geisler / We Three Club / Yoko Honda.

On display is a series of brand new, amusing and arresting artworks; A2 posters and bumper stickers. Not anti, but pro. Not against, but for. All wheels good, whether they be four, twelve or two. We all want to make the city’s commute nice not nasty. All it takes is mutual respect, a smile instead of a frown, a fist bump instead of a fight, a snog instead of a sweary word (ok, maybe that goes too far).

Save those hand gestures for the dancefloor!
