The Wool and leather Half belt is a style that came about when access to leather was scarce which led to the winning combination of wool and leather. The jacket has many similarities to the Donkey Jacket with the leather shoulders, although the half belt back gives it a far smarter appearance. We had ours made in a black Melton wool and finished with a medium weight Horse-Hide details.

The type III is an original denim. jacket style from the 1950s and one that looks great in leather. We wanted to match the classic silhouette with a leather that would quickly gain character and depth. We chose a mid weight Kelphi Horsehide that works well with the cut of the jacket. Button closures and an olive lining finish the jacket.

Like Jerky and Vicenza, ‘Kelpie’ is also a full grain midweight horsehide. What makes it unique in our midweight horsehide range is its full aniline (non-pigment) finish. Married with a blend of classic waxes, this fully translucent and slightly shiny finish protects the leather, but leaves the dye to accentuate all the natural markings and variations in the hide, leaving a beautiful mottled effect throughout and resulting in one of the most dynamic and interesting leathers we’ve worked with.
Unlike the other midweight horsehides, it is also combination tanned (mostly veg tanned then a couple of hours with chrome tanning agents to help lock in the waxes and colour) leaving the leather with a fairly soft temper and with a comfortable suppleness from the start.
1963 Polo Shirt Black
The polo shirt originated in the early 20th century and was originally developed for tennis. A French tennis pro in the 1920s designed a short-sleeved, comfortable shirt made of breathable cotton piqué that offered more freedom of movement than the long-sleeved shirts common at the time. Although it was intended for tennis, it quickly became particularly popular in polo. The polo shirt made its triumphant entry into the fashion world in the 1950s thanks to various Hollywood stars and the preppy style.

1943 CPO Shirt Tijuana red
The U.S. Navy CPO Shirt, also known as the Chief Petty Officer Shirt, is undoubtedly a timeless classic among outdoor shirts. This garment was designed to withstand the harsh conditions on the decks of ships. Over the years, certain materials and cuts in maritime clothing have proven to be particularly suitable.
The 1943 CPO Shirt is an outstanding example of the evolution of these garments. Originally conceived in the 1930s, the cut and material have only undergone slight changes over the decades. Some of the distinctive features of this shirt are:
1. **Freedom of Movement:** The fit of this shirt provides excellent freedom of movement, which is crucial for work aboard ships. Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) had to be able to move freely in their shirts to efficiently perform their duties.

The Roamer Shirt is based on an American work shirt from the late 1930s. Like the original, it offers the wearer a high level of comfort thanks to its roomy cut. Another detail of our 1937 Roamer Shirt is the "smoker's pocket". In the first half of the 20th century, smoking was still socially acceptable and people tried to make life easier for smokers in general. This was also the case with work clothing. Our smoker's pocket is cut in such a way that a soft pack can be stored in it. If the owner now feels like having a "fat", he can take a cigarette out of his soft pack without having to pull out the whole pack.

The Hunter Jacket is a function and stylish mid length Jacket. The design combines subtle elements inspired by 50’s hunting, waxed motorcycle and military jackets. We worked with British Millerain, famed for inventing waxed fabrics in 1860, using their innovative Stay Wax. We opted for a heavy weight 10 oz fabric offers waxed protection from the rain without having the greasy feel of traditional waxed cotton. The jacket benefits from never needing re-waxing and is machine washable. An Italian vegetable tanned leather details the elbows and the underside of the collar.
Arms are satin lined with taped seams and a storm cuff of heavy rib seals the jacket from the wind. We re-created the Revolving Shank buttons, a feature found on military jacket of the 30’s, with an Italian company using replica horn. The buttons are not attached to the jacket but go through eyelets in the cloth being held in place by small silver rings. They’re not going to fall off.
We were inspired by hunting jackets and their capacity for carrying things. Two hand warmer pockets overlap two concealed pockets on the front, and an internal poachers pocket wraps around the jacket held in place with heavy duty clips. The sweatshirts have an athletic fit with thick ribbed hem and cuffs that hold the sweatshirt in place underneath a jacket. The style is reminiscent of the classic race sweaters of the 1940’s.
The chest features an heavy embroidered logo that we originally created using letterpress print. The garment was dip dyed in Ash Black to create a uniform colour across all elements. We then added a double enzyme wash to break down the cotton for a soft slubby feel and to give the dye a natural fade, for the worn in look.

As part of our ten year anniversary we set out to create a limited range of goods that really exemplify our approach to craft and design. We were inspired by the styles of 1970’s New York street gangs who began customising their own garments using Heat press letters available at local print shops. We worked with back yard print duo Motorthreads who developed a laborious print process to replicate the originals. Each design was screen printed on to heat transfer paper then each element individually laid ouit by hand, giving each piece a unique hand finished quality. To balance the print we used a super heavy weight 220g organic cotton t-shirt in off white.

Personally I love the contrast between the luxury of the wool and its contemporary, utilitarian design. The jacket is very warm and a perfect buffer against the cold climes. As with all our products, we make clothes to do a job and to last. The quality of these jackets ensures they will continue to look smart, and improve with wear, for years to come.

We’ve been after these hats since the companies owner Christian came on our Mechanics course and gifted me one. Two or three years later and I still wear the hat most days and I am very happy to have them in stock at Bolt.
Made in Germany the hats are an incredible quality and fit. What I like best is the different weaves which mean the hat stays in shape on the fold lines.

An absolutely stunning example of the USAAF flight jacket. The 3/4 Shearing looks great and the reinforced arms and pockets makes this both a warm and sturdy jacket. Side fasteners taper the jacket nicely on the belt and storm cuffs lock the warmth in.

Double stitching features around both the pocket and flap, and the pocket has a button closure. Underarm gussets, lined inside with purple rayon satin as original Spec Sheets. The collar is reinforced with horsehide backing and features a throat latch on the front. The sleeves have storm cuffs again as the original USAAF Spec.. The back is 2 piece above a kidney panel and the side adjusters/buckles are black metal.
